Michigan Approved CPL Course – NRA “Personal Protection In The Home”

Course Description: Teaches the student a basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of themselves and their family. Course is taught by experienced law enforcement officers who have extensive training in firearms and tactics. Course is required for obtaining a concealed pistol license in Michigan.

This is an eight-hour course broken down into two parts; 5 hours of classroom instruction and 3 hours of range qualification. Range time is conducted in a controlled environment without distractions.

Course Requirements: 50 rounds of ammunition, personal firearm, eye and ear protection. NO ADDITIONAL FEES. Your $100 includes; materials, range fee, Ranger Pocket Guide, lunch, and more.

Course Prerequisites: None

Students Will Learn: Basic shooting fundamentals; including how to hold, load and unload a pistol, shooting platforms, defensive shooting, strategies for home safety, how to respond to a violent confrontation, understand and use to your advantage, the mental process, you and your attacker go through during an encounter, how to focus on your natural ability to alert, assess, and act, how to choose an appropriate handgun for self-defense, Criminal and Civil laws pertaining to carrying a concealed pistol in Michigan, and how to properly deal with police officers when stopped for a traffic violation or after a self-defense shooting.
