Joe “Bugsy” Brugnoli has been involved in firearm training for 20 years. Joe served as a U.S. Army Ranger in the 1st Battalion of 75th Ranger Regiment and graduated from the elite U.S. Army Ranger School 2nd in his class. From 1999 to 2006, Joe served as a Team Leader with a Long Range Surveillance company and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom I & II. Joe is a graduate of Michigan State University, and has his Juris Doctorate (JD) from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Since 1996, Joe has operated around the world and trained with SOF, CAG, British SAS, and numerous other elite special operations units, including local and federal law enforcement agencies. From 2005 till 2014, Joe was a law enforcement officer in the City of Ferndale and assigned to the Sniper section on the Southeast Oakland SWAT Team. In 2016, Joe returned to law enforcement and works as an officer in Grand Rapids. As an officer in Ferndale, Joe was a firearms trainer within his department and SWAT team, and a High Risk Traffic Stop instructor at Oakland University’s Police Academy. Additionally, Joe was a certified MCOLES Shoot House Instructor, Active Shooter Instructor and Law Enforcement Sniper. During his time as an officer, he earned six Unit Commendation Awards and three Life Saving Awards. Currently Joe is a NRA Rifle, Pistol, and Personal Protection In The Home instructor, Range Safety Officer, and certified AR15 Armorer. Joe brings tested and proven tactical training and experience to his company. Joe “Brick” Gentilia
Joe is a current law-enforcement officer in the State of Michigan and MCOLES certified Firearms Instructor. Joe started his career in the United States Marine Corps in 1991 during Desert Storm. During Desert Storm Joe served as a Field Radio Operator and was selected to a T.A.C.P. Unit where he conducted reconnaissance for air support units. In 2005 Joe entered and completed the Oakland Police Academy where he earned the Top Gun Award for marksmanship. After graduation Joe entered and completed the Oakland Fire Academy where he earned the position of Class Leader. After graduation, Joe served as Fireman until he was hired as a full-time law enforcement officer, where he is assigned to road patrol and is a range officer that conducts department training. Joe’s qualifications include; Law Enforcement Sniper (RFI Sniper School Graduate), MCOLES Pistol and Carbine Instructor, and a NRA Pistol, Rifle, and Personal Protection In The Home instructor. More recently, Joe graduated from the LE Designated Marksman School (2015) and LE Advanced Sniper School (2016). Joe is a member of MTOA (Michigan Tactical Officer’s Association) and the ASA (American Sniper’s Association). Joe is passionate about learning and teaching firearms, and continues to train and practice. Joe brings practical experience to the RFI Team and is dedicated teaching others how to win when confronted with a deadly attack.
Dave “Ferret” Vroman
Dave is currently a Sergeant in a Metro Detroit area Police Department. Dave is a lifelong sportsman and firearms enthusiast. He completed his undergrad at Ferris State University and obtained his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University, where he concentrated his studies on Critical Incidents. Dave has been in law enforcement for over 15 years and in addition to his duties as a supervisor of the road patrol division he is currently in charge of his department’s range and firearms training program. Dave is an MCOLES certified Firearms and Taser instructor as well as being a field training officer, and a Glock and AR-15 Armorer. Dave also has a background in Haz Mat, High Angle Rescue and Confined Space rescue. Dave was a member of the Oakland County Haz Mat Team and the Regional Response Team (RRTN), with certifications in vertical and confined space rescue, as well as mitigation of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological incidents, WMD Detection, and WMD evidence collection. Dave has gained a lot of practical experience during his 15 years as a street cop that complements his extensive studies on all aspects of critical incidents, including preparation, the physiology and psychology of surviving a critical incident situation, and post critical incident recovery. This means Dave can pass on to RFI students not only the physical skills necessary to become proficient in personal defense but advice on mental preparation should those skills ever become necessary.
Anton “Toon” Locher
Anton is a 17 1/2 year veteran of law enforcement. Anton began his career in the Marine Corps in 1988 and spent four years in the Infantry attached to an 81mm mortar platoon and was later promoted to a Forward Observer. He did a tour overseas in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm with 3rd Battalion / First Marines. Anton is an active member of the Southeast Oakland SWAT team and is assigned to the Sniper section. Anton is an MCOLES certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Taser, Less Lethal, OC, and PPCT Instructor. Additionally, Anton was a Detective and FTO (Field Training Officer) for his department. Since joining his police department, Anton has attended three Sniper schools, (RFI Sniper School Graduate, along with FBI basic sniper school) and Advance Sniper School through the MTOA (Michigan Tactical Officers Association), Centermass Inc’s. Designated Marksman’s course, two pistol instructor schools and is the department’s certified AR15 and Glock Armorer. Anton is also a NRA Pistol and Rifle Instructor. Anton has also spent time in Ft Bragg, NC with RFI, training infantry squad leaders from the 82nd Airborne Division (501st Battalion). He is a member of the NRA, MTOA and lifetime VFW member. Anton adds years of experience to the RFI Team. His leadership is nothing short of excellent.
Nick served as U.S. Army Ranger in the 1st Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment from 2006-2010 where he began his military career as a motorman and finished as a sniper team leader. During his time in the Regiment he completed two combat deployments to Iraq and three to Afghanistan. Nick was awarded a Purple Heart in 2009 on his fifth and final deployment to the Middle East. While continuing to serve his country in the Army Reserve from 2010- 2013, he received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Upon completion of his degree, Nick worked for the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department for 3.5 years as a Patrol Officer, Crime Suppression Unit Officer (CSU), and S.W.A.T team member. Nick shot 2nd in Marksmanship in the Georgia Public Safety Training Center Police Academy and earned a Life Saving Medal for treating a sucking chest wound of a teenage gunshot victim. Nick has a passion for firearms and would like to build a legacy passing on his knowledge to other gun enthusiasts.
Tom “Guru” Cardarelli
Tom is a nurse Anesthetist at a highly recognized hospital in metro Detroit. Tom started shooting firearms in the late 80’s. Tom brings a wealth of experience to the RFI team and proven techniques learned over the years. Tom is a Distinguished graduate in Tactical Handgun, Tactical Carbine and Precision Rifle from Front Sight Training and is experienced in Tactical Shotgun. Tom is a graduate from Front Sight Training, the Sig Sauer Academy and Team Spartan Tactical Training. Additionally Tom is a qualified Krav Maga Instructor, NRA certified instructor and AR15 Armorer.
Skip “Moses” Davis
Skip is our most experienced instructor with over 42 years of active law enforcement experience. Skip began his career in 1967 when he joined the Army and was deployed to Vietnam as a 11B Scout Dog Handler. In 1971, Skip joined the Detroit Police Department, then in 1974, Skip left DPD and joined the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department. Skip retired from WCSD in 1998. At the same time, Skip joined the Marine Corps in 1978 and served as a Military Police Officer till 1991. After retiring from the Sheriff’s Department, Skip joined the United States Customs Service for one year, then moved on to the Ypsilanti Police Department and Milan Police Department until he found a home at the Huron Clinton Metro Parks Police Department where he stayed for 12 years. Since the beginning of time, Skip has been a firearms instructor and SWAT Instructor. From 1995 to 2012, Skip taught at the infamous Miami Metro Dade SWAT School and Western Wayne Police Academy. If you worked in law enforcement in any capacity since 1971, Skip probably knows you. He is one of the best instructors in the law enforcement.
Eric “Flash” Baroky
Eric began his public safety career in 1993 when he started the Oakland Fire academy. After graduating from the academy, Eric earned his EMT license and State of Michigan Fire Service Instructor certificate. In 2000, Eric decided to pursue a career in law enforcement when he was hired by the City of Detroit and graduated from their police academy. Currently Eric is a Sergeant in the patrol division at his department, where he serves as a nationally certified Mobile Command Instructor, certified MCOLES Firearms Instructor, Law Enforcement Sniper, Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics, Ground Fighting, Pressure Points and Control Tactics (PPCT), and Pepper Spray and Taser Instructor. Additionally Eric is the department’s Glock and AR15 armorer. In additional to his patrol duties, Eric serves as Sniper Section Leader on the Southeast Oakland S.W.A.T. team. Eric offers years of tactical training and personal protection experience to RFI students. Eric is a valuable asset who, from the beginning, helped design a realistic and professional training company.
