Sniper Craft & Camp I
Cost: $450 (Price includes 2 nights lodging on Camp Grayling Military Reservation, 5 Meals, Range Fee, and all materials) – LIMITED TO 20 STUDENTS
Date/Location: Friday June 1st – Sunday June 3rd, 2012 – Camp Grayling, Grayling MI (Check-in at 2PM Friday night, class starts at 4PM)
Course Objective: RFI’s objective is to provide citizens from across the mid-west region a rare opportunity to train on a military base without distraction and with some of the best military and police sniper instructors. This is a unique opportunity to work with Ranger Firearm Instruction on actual military ranges with an emphasis out to 500 yards utilizing both moving and pop-up targets. Students will also have the opportunity to engage targets out to 1000 yards. Ranger Firearm Instruction prides itself on its military tradition, and strives to be a Leader in the state of Michigan when it comes to training of citizens and law-enforcement personnel. We promise to create an environment for students that mirror military and law-enforcement training, and a weekend unlike any other.
The course will be a balance of classroom lecture, shooting drills, and land navigation that directly reinforces the topics discussed. Students should expect to adopt sling supported and typical shooting positions as lesson purpose drills. The student should be self-sufficient with an ample water supply and snacks for the day. Breakfast, bagged lunch, and dinner are included in the cost as mentioned.
Course Outline: Ranger Firearm Instruction’s Snipe Craft I is designed to provide students with the basic fundamentals of precision rifle engagement techniques at extended ranges out to 500 yards with the opportunity to engage targets at 1000 yards. Additionally, students will be taught the basic fundamentals of land navigation – a core skill required by all precision rifle shooters. This is an entry-level course and requires no formal education or training in order to attend. The course will thoroughly cover the following topics:

- Moving Target Engagements (Day/Night)
- Target Engagements from 100 to 1000 yards (Day/Night)
- Precision Weapon System Nomenclature
- Weapon Set-Up and Accessories
- Telescopic Sight Theory and Operation
- Angular Units of Measure
- Fundamentals of Precision Rifle Marksmanship
- Weapon and Optic Manipulation
- Precision Weapons Maintenance
- Recording and Analyzing Data
- External Ballistics
- Range Estimation Techniques
- Effects of Weather, Wind and Mirage
- Unsupported shooting Positions
- Land Navigation
- Land navigation course (Day/Night)
- Practical application and introduction to military topographic maps and compasses
- Understanding and plotting 8 and 10 digit grid coordinates
- Creating your own pace count
- How to use terrain features to navigate without a map or compass
Gear/Kit (Suggested Items to bring): This course requires a precision weapon system capable of producing at least One Minute of Angle (MOA) accuracy coupled with a telescopic sight that is capable of MOA or Milradian (MIL) adjustments with a range-finding reticle. Caliber selection is broad with a minimum caliber required of .223 or larger with most shooters utilizing the .308 Winchester or .300 Winchester Magnums. It is recommended but not required for attendance that shooters bring with them any tools associated with their particular optic for adjustments and zeroing procedures as well as an operations manual to help identify the myriad of range finding reticles offered in the market today.
